Marc Campopiano represents real estate developers, energy companies, transmission line developers, and utilities on large master-planned communities, major renewable and traditional power projects, large-scale transmission lines, energy storage facilities, gas pipelines, and energy transition matters. Marc draws on his background as an environmental consultant in advising on a range of technical matters, including wildfires, climate change, air quality, health risks, and cultural resources. He guides large-scale projects through sophisticated permitting pathways that often require numerous approvals from multiple agencies.
Marc advises clients on all aspects of satisfying environmental review requirements in the state of California and throughout the United States, including under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Marc provides guidance to clients on high-profile matters before local, state, and federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Land Management, California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, and cities and counties, and he frequently advises on a variety of environmental laws, such as the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Air Act, Subdivision Map Act, and Housing Accountability Act.
Prior to joining the firm, Marc was a partner in the environment, land, and resources practice at a global law firm, where he also served as the local chair. He advised clients on securing approvals for some of the highest-profile projects in California and other states. Before his career in private practice, he obtained a Master of Environmental Science and Management and worked at an environmental consulting firm.
